The Portland (OR) Police Bureau will be offering its police officer exam for two of the first three phases of the testing process (written and oral board) in San Jose, California in May 2011. Applicants will be required to successfully complete the Physical Abilities Test (Phase II) upon conditional offer of employment and will be completed at the time of the Psychological and Medical Evaluation (Phase V and Phase VI).

  • A Pass/Fail panel interview (1 sworn, 1 non-sworn)
  • 6 Questions (3 Procedural, 3 Non-Procedural)

*Statement of Personal History (SPH) must be submitted via mail to the Portland Police Bureau Personnel Division no later than Friday June 3, 2011 (postmarked by 5pm) *Do not send originals, send copies only (with the exception of official sealed college transcripts)*

PHASE IV - BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION

Applicants who successfully pass the Oral Interview will have three weeks to complete and submit their Statement of Personal History (SPH) to the Portland Police Bureau. Once received, applicants will be assigned a background investigator who will complete each applicant's background check.

PHASE V - PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION

Formal interview with a psychologist

PHASE VI - MEDICAL EVALUATION

Comprehensive physical evaluation, including drug screen
